特殊情况规定 Academic considerations

At various times during their legal studies, students may experience personal situations which may prevent them from writing an exam as scheduled, submitting a paper or assignment on time or completing a course. There may be time when a student may require a more comprehensive academic plan due to illness or a disability.

There are policies and procedures in place that provide options to assist a student. These options may include extensions, deferrals, attendance waiver, leave of absence and/or part time studies. Requests for academic considerations are directed to the Student Affairs Office rather than individual instructors.

学术不诚信类型 Academic misconduct

学术不诚信主要包括以下四类行为（剽窃、作弊、机密材料、虚报事实）：

1 No Student shall represent work not authored by themselves, published or unpublished as their own in any writing, such as an essay, thesis, research report, project or assignment submitted in a course or a program of study, whether the material so represented constitutes a part or the entirety of the work submitted 剽窃：不得将非本人创作的（已发表或未发表）作品，全部或部分冒充为自己的作品提交（如论文、报告、项目或作业）。
2 No Student may use generative AI in the context of an Assessment in a manner not authorized by the relevant instructor or supervisor, or in a manner that violates any requirements regarding the use of AI in the context of a given course. AI-detection software is not sufficient, by itself, to substantiate an allegation under this article of the Code 不得在考核中以未获相关教师/导师授权的方式、或违反课程AI使用要求的方式使用生成式AI；仅凭AI检测软件本身不足以证明此项违规。
3 No Student may, without permission of the relevant instructor, Knowingly share their work produced for an Assessment with another Student who could submit that work in part or whole as their own 未经相关教师许可，不得故意将自己为考核完成的作业分享给可能将其全部或部分作为自己作品提交的其他学生。
4 In the context of an Assessment, obtain or attempt to obtain information from another Student or an unauthorized material including from an electronic device or give or attempt to give information to another Student or possess, use or attempt to use from any unauthorized material including an electronic device 作弊：考核中不得从他人或未经许可的材料（含电子设备）获取或试图获取信息，不得向他人提供信息，不得持有或使用未经许可的材料。
5 In the context of an Assessment, remove, retain or alter examination or Assessment materials 不得移走、保留或篡改考试或考核材料。
6 Represent or attempt to represent oneself as another person or have or attempt to have oneself represented by another person when completing an Assessment 不得在完成考核时冒充他人或让他人代替自己（代考）。
7 Submit in any course or program of study, without both the knowledge and approval of the person to whom it is submitted, all or a portion of any writing, essay, thesis, research report, project or assignment for which credit has previously been obtained by such Student, or which has been or is being published by such Student, or which has been or is being submitted in another course or program of study by such Student, at the University or elsewhere 不得未经批准，将曾获学分、已发表或已在本校或其他地方其他课程提交的作业全部或部分重复提交。
8 Submit in any course or program of study any writing, essay, thesis, research report, project or assignment containing a statement of fact known by the Student to be false or a reference or source that the Student knows has been fabricated 不得提交含有明知虚假的事实陈述或捏造的参考来源的作业。
9 Use any tool to complete an Assessment, including generative artificial intelligence, that has been disallowed in the course outline or any written instructions for the Assessment 不得使用课程大纲或考核书面说明中禁止的任何工具（包括生成式人工智能）来完成考核。
10 In the context of an examination, violate any instruction given by an invigilator, or any of the following Examination Regulations, without authorization from the Chief Invigilator (e.g. may not depart during the first hour; may not temporarily leave unless accompanied or permitted; no personal belongings such as phone/tablet/laptop/smart watch when temporarily leaving; no communication during the exam; may not depart during the last 15 minutes; must submit all examination materials before leaving) 考试中不得违反监考人员的任何指示或以下考试规则（如：开考第一小时内不得离场；未经允许不得暂时离开考场；暂时离场时不得携带手机、平板、笔记本电脑、智能手表等电子设备或书写材料；考试期间禁止交流；最后15分钟内不得离场；离场前须交回全部考试材料）。
11 It shall be an offence to procure, distribute, or receive, by any means whatsoever, any confidential academic material such as pending examinations or laboratory results or other instructor-generated materials or documents without prior and express consent of the instructor 机密材料：未经导师事先明确同意，不得以任何方式获取、分发或接收机密学术材料（如待考试题、实验结果或导师生成的其他材料）。
12 It shall be an offence to distribute, or use for any reason other than one’s own private study, by any means whatsoever, any copyrighted material or material owned by another person 不得以个人学习以外的任何目的，以任何方式分发或使用他人拥有的版权材料。
13 It shall be an offence to misrepresent material facts to another for the purpose of gaining admission to the University or obtaining academic advantage or credit 虚报事实：不得为获得入学资格或学术利益/学分而向他人虚报重要事实。
14 No Student shall in the course of their academic life defraud or Knowingly breach the trust of any University office, facility, or service 不得在学术活动中欺骗或故意背弃任何大学办公室、设施或服务的信任。

学术不诚信惩罚 Academic penalty

若学生被训诫或谴责，纪律委员会还可作出以下一项或多项处罚：

1 place the Student on conduct probation for a specified period of time 对学生进行一段时间的行为观察（行为缓刑）。
2 require that the Student make restitution or otherwise remedy the situation, including up to 10 hours of unpaid non-academic activities or community service 要求学生作出赔偿或以其他方式弥补问题，包括最多10小时的无偿非学术活动或社区服务。
3 suspend the Student for a period not exceeding one year 停学，期限不超过一年。
4 exclude the Student from a part or all of the University Premises for a period not exceeding one year 禁止学生进入部分或全部校园场所，期限不超过一年。
5 order the Student to cease and desist communications with a Member or Members of the University Community for any specified period of time 命令学生在指定期间内停止与一名或多名大学社区成员的一切联系。
6 dismiss the Student from the University 退学（开除学籍）。
7 expel the Student from the University 永久开除。
8 Academic Offences: enter a grade of zero, or assign a partial grade, for the Assessment in question, or enter a partial or failing grade for the course 学术违规：对涉事考核记零分或部分分数，或对该课程记部分分数或不及格。
9 Academic Offences: recommend to Senate to revoke a degree, diploma or certificate 学术违规：向评议会（Senate）建议撤销学位、文凭或证书。
10 Residence Offences: order the Student excluded from one or more residences or portions thereof for any specified period of time 住宿违规：命令在指定期间内禁止学生进入一处或多处宿舍或其部分区域。

上述处罚可以合并适用（The Hearing Committee may combine any of the above sanctions）。
