Examples of circumstances which may be accepted
The following is a non-exhaustive list of examples that the university would commonly regard as falling with the definition provided in A 2.1 of the regulations – i.e. exceptional circumstances outside of the student’s control, that may have a negative effect upon performance or ability to meet a deadline or to sit an examination:
- Bereavement – death of close relative/friend/significant other (of a nature which, in an employment context, would have led to an absence in accordance with the compassionate leave)
- Serious short-term illness or accident (of a nature which, in an employment context, would have led to an absence of sick leave)
- Significant adverse personal/family circumstances
- Significant disruption of an examination
- Severe adverse weather conditions
- A significant failure of due process by the University
- Other significant exceptional factors for which there is evidence of stress causes.
特殊情况指的是超出学生控制范围的事件可能会对学生的成绩以及如期完成和参加考试。可以以此来申请延迟参与考试的延迟或者重考。
学术不诚信类型 Academic misconduct
南安普敦大学 2025-26 学年将原 Academic Integrity Regulations 更名为 Regulations Governing Academic Responsibility and Conduct。学术责任要求学生诚实完成学术作品、恰当注明来源、不为自己或他人寻求不公平优势、按要求独立完成作品、不获取未经授权的外部协助、准确呈现数据和信息，并遵守研究和伦理要求。违反规定的类型包括：

学术不诚信惩罚 Academic penalty

申诉流程 Appeal
学生如具备申诉理由，可对学术决定提出申诉。可接受的理由包括：有新的实质性信息和证据且此前无法合理取得；原决定存在重大程序失败、计算或行政事实错误并影响结果；或因疾病、家庭危机等因素严重影响表现，且在原决定前因特殊情况无法或有正当理由不愿披露。学生通常须在决定首次通知后的10个工作日内提交 Stage 1 Notice to Appeal；预科语言结果和补考结果为5个工作日。Stage 1 通常在收到申诉后10个工作日内通知结果；若进入 Stage 2，学生须在 Stage 1 结果信后5个工作日内提交 Stage 2 Appeal Form，书面审查结果通常在15个工作日内通知。如需 Full Academic Appeals Panel，会议通常在通知后10个工作日内安排，会议结果通常在会后5个工作日内通知。Stage 3 仅限 Stage 2 存在重大程序失败，须在 Stage 2 结果信后5个工作日内提交。
